CHAIRS...

CHAIRS !!! the word itself terrifies me. They are my greatest enemies, not sure what problem they have when I am around , perhaps they hate my bu* * or just get tickled with it cause they always seem to kiss the floor whenever I am around. Two such incidences !! First time, it happened when we were back from a picnic and decide to chill in a shack, along the beach. We approached a table with these plastic chairs rooted in the sand, I sat, I fell ! Thank god for blessing me with such great friends ,who sympathized and didn’t laugh. It doest end here, am sure most of you’ll must have listened to Britney Spears famous song, Baby, one more time !! On that I day I was in tune to that line. Somehow after struggling to literally plant that chair with sand, (only water and manure were remaining to be added ),baby, here we go one more time, Nadia takes a seat, Nadia’s off her seat ! My friends decided to leave the shack and go home instead , they were too tired to see it happening agai...

A letter to Dad

I thought of writing a letter to you, dad, a letter of thanks. Was wondering, why it really took me so long, rather 33 years of my life to thank you for the precious gifts that you have given to me throughout my life. Would like to express some of my thoughts and views too. They say, count your blessings everyday of your life, give more and expect less, this surely is the way of living a happy life. Sometimes we get so caught up with this competitive world, comparing ourselves to our neighbors, wanting exactly the same thing or even better than them, that we stop exploring our own potential. Its true, the world makes us blind, its also true, that, we have a choice, either allow ourselves to be filled with blindness or we change our glance elsewhere. I guess I have been drawn by this blindness, dad, and truly failed to explore the talents that you lovingly blessed me with. However when I turned 32, the phase of life that I went through for the past one year, made me realize, how foo...

In search of FAITH

As I looked up at the Wordweb software running on my computer and searched for the meaning of “Faith”, it showed me a couple of meanings, however the following caught my eye, it states “complete confidence in a person or plan”. Faith in God our father, indicates, strong trust and confidence in him and the holy trinity. How many of us ,Catholic, have that confidence in our creator ? If you are one of those who can openly say, Yes, I trust my creator and am ever ready to say yes to his holy will, then you need not carry on reading, cause this article are for those who are still in search of faith. One of my favorite verses from the bible is the one from the gospel of John, where the disciples were stuck in a huge storm and our Lord was asleep in the boat .We are all aware how it goes, in spite of Christ being by their side in that huge storm that was surrounding them, the huge waves splashing around and the likely hood that the boat would sink, they shivered with fear, how much more ...

Memories of my School days

Has I sit back and let my mind race down memory lane to those wonderful days of my life, I have realized that growing up is one big mistake in the life cycle of a human being. Childhood were those days in ones life where every child had their freedom of speech, laughter and naughtiness without the World questioning their intentions. I don’t really know how it must have started for me; guess once I turned 3 my parents must have decided that it was time for their little daughter, Nadia, to step into the intellect world of the Adults. My first home away from home was “Aunty Celina”, a school for tiny tots. It had two rooms with walls painted in shades of pink and Disney characters drawn on them. Being the first child of the Fernandes family, I am sure I was pampered, no wonder “Aunty Celina” came has a shock to me. I still recollect my first day at school, all I did was cry. Not a single toy in this world could bring a smile on my face that day. It was a day where I felt very lonely with...

Mumbai Horror

Mumbai also known has the city that does not sleep. It’s one city that is filled with people from all over India and from different religions. Many flock here to make a living , to help them cope up with poverty which such a rich nation like India is not able to provide to them. Well I m just trying to find my words to pen down something which hopefully would inspire someone to do something about the Mumbai attacks. I don really know how successful I would be but here are my views. Has I watched the news channel, the only thing that I could see was hostages, commandos in action, explosions, gun shots, fire . Hell on earth.! I am a catholic and looking at such a thing going on just teared up my heart. I was shaken, it all looked like a action movie more then a reality. I had never thought that such things could happen in reality, now I feel I was more in a dream world. Now that it is all over everyone is pointing their finger towards Pakistan all Muslims are looked down upon has the mai...

True meaning of Christmas

Christmas is very close , it’s a time of great joy for all the Christians around the world cause it’s that time of the year, where God the father sent his only son to this earth. It’s the birth of our redeemer. Has I think back of all the Christmas’s that I have had these years, it has somehow now made me realize how I wasted my time on fruitless things, Christmas sweets, Decoration, shopping etc. All these materialistic wealth were so time consuming, tiring and sometimes so frustrating. It would all lead to fights, anger and disappointment. Is this what Christmas is really all about ?? Nah ! it much more then all these silly things which stand has temptation to distract us from the actually meaning of it, the birth of a King, God the son who humbled himself to be born has a human to carry the load of our sins on his back. Its a shame that instead of preparing our hearts and soul to receive baby Jesus, we waste it on entertaining the whims and fancies of our mortal body. My decision ...

Orissa Violence

Religious violence-Orissa,IndiaI wasn’t feeling all that great today morning, was down with a bad cold and fever however I happened to pick up the local newspaper and happened to glance through it. Hoping that I would come across something nice and worth reading. Would definitely make me feel better. Has I glanced through a couple of pages , I came across this short article which mentioned that the Goa Archbishop has condemned the riots between the Hindus and the Catholic in Orissa. Was totally out of touch of what really happened, well it really did not makes sense me knowing what really happened, from the looks of it, it wasn’t something good. Innocent people left dead has two religions clashed ! They say religion and politics are two topics that should never be discussed cause the sentiments of each person towards these two are unique. Fair enough ! I will not get into great details. After reading about these riots, I was left with just my question in my mind, Would it have been bet...
