In search of FAITH
As I looked up at the Wordweb software running on my computer and searched for the meaning of “Faith”, it showed me a couple of meanings, however the following caught my eye, it states “complete confidence in a person or plan”.
Faith in God our father, indicates, strong trust and confidence in him and the holy trinity. How many of us ,Catholic, have that confidence in our creator ? If you are one of those who can openly say, Yes, I trust my creator and am ever ready to say yes to his holy will, then you need not carry on reading, cause this article are for those who are still in search of faith.
One of my favorite verses from the bible is the one from the gospel of John, where the disciples were stuck in a huge storm and our Lord was asleep in the boat .We are all aware how it goes, in spite of Christ being by their side in that huge storm that was surrounding them, the huge waves splashing around and the likely hood that the boat would sink, they shivered with fear, how much more difficult it is for us, poor in faith, who really cant see our Lord in flesh and blood.
My search in faith, has made me do a lot of things, meditate over bible verses, read religious books, discuss this issue during confessions, counseling with priest etc however all this has only made me realize that I may be along the right journey but have not yet reached my destiny. Let me admit , I am one of those who really don’t believe without any scientific explanation and justification. However its persons like me which have not really accomplished much in our spiritual life which in turn has a direct impact on our real life. Let’s face it , one can accomplish much in life carrying the key of faith with us, as of now I am still searching for that key.
Strange that it may seem in spite of doing my catholic duties, attending my mass on Sundays, saying the rosary, saying my special prayers etc somehow I have missed the most important part of my religion. There maybe many who are right now stuck exactly where I am and I hope it just doesn’t end here, cause it would be a pretty tragic ending. They say no matter how big are the obstacles that you face or how lonely you are , or how many failures you may have gone through, having firm confidence and trust in the one who has breathed life in you will help reach your destiny safe and sound, without worries, and without much struggle.
Personally speaking, the solution is not in the outside , its more in the inside of each and every person. We may read books, get into huge religious discussion, belief ultimately comes from the inside, Just like how we would trust a friend or trust our family. We don’t really get into discussion or read books to gain this trust right ??!. As of now I have stopped much of my reading and am concentrating more in the true essence of my religion. A prayer that is helping me as of now is the one that is recited every Sunday, the “I believe”, it’s a prayer that stands as a reminder of what was, what is and what is yet to come. It’s a prayer that constantly reminds us of our “Faith”, a prayer where we need to stop a while and understand each and every line of it. The birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ .
